Not the retail marketing kind but the fun guess what is waiting for you kind!
Boat toys are here!! Boat toys are here!!!! My Yeti has arrived, the new bilge pump (and 12v wiring I need to configure), emergency plugs, sewing needles, twine, emergency whistle, hammock, and some medicines for the furry crew. The rope and hot plate are taking their sweet time in arriving. I really hope the rope makes it before the running rigging chafes completely through! As much as I would love to see the view from atop the mast, I don't think I am quite ready for that task just yet! While I was at the marina unpacking my new toys, one of the employees says "do you want a fender?" Is this even a question? YES! So it turns out earlier in the day, a large super-yacht sized fender washed ashore and they pulled it out of the way but it needed a new home. Fully inflated and H U G E, it would have been a $100 purchase. I guess Neptune returned my toll - with interest! I am taking it as a sign he approves of the official new name:
If you had seen the insanity which revolved around getting the name centered, even, and all in one piece you would appreciate what a huge accomplishment this was. It was a busy weekend so there was a full audience watching, too. Those letters were a royal pain but it is reflective for a little extra safety/visibility. (Incidentally, I believe my Dallas Cowboys decal may just fit in the extra white space below her name!)
While I was at the marina, the power squadron education leader called. The books for sail class (which starts next week Y A Y !!! ) had arrived and due to the fast pace of the course, I needed to get started right away reading it. He was going to be on the island helping to build a fence so I was able to swing by and pick up my copy. I cannot even express how unbelievably excited I am!!! It turns out I know his wife and another member from turtle nest sitting last year. The funny thing is, those long nights sitting the nest is where this whole plan was conjured up and the planning began!!
I had planned to bring the entire furry crew aboard this weekend but the weather doesn't look like it wants to cooperate so it looks like I will be sanding, painting, wiring, and preparing for the crew's FIRST THANKSGIVING ON VELELLA!
